I found this vintage 1979 Land Rover lying stranded in the marshy moorland above Garsdale – despite being renowned for their all-terrain hardiness, it seems at some point the owner of this one perhaps overestimated its capabilities and got it stuck in this scenic resting place overlooking the rest of the dale towards Mallerstang in the North-East; and the distinctive mountain of Ingleborough to the West.
From satellite imagery it looks to have been here for years now and at this point probably isn’t worth recovering – still – I guess it’s a fitting monument to the spirit of adventure the brand is known for (and possibly also its unreliability).
